During his career, Patrick Smith created over 1000 works of art – monoprints, drawings, and watercolors on paper, acrylics and oil on canvas. He admired and was influenced by impressionists and realists, by Matisse, Cezanne, Picasso, Bonnard, and by Caravaggio, Egon Schiele, Lucian Freud, Francis Bacon, Richard Diebenkorn, and Wayne Thiebaud.

Tables and chairs are a favorite topic in his work, and he created two notable series of paintings, California Guitars and Portraits from a Hospice.

Patrick’s art has been collected by admirers from Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Wisconsin, as well as Great Britain and Italy.
